The Early childhood developmental unit (ECDU) formally known as the Special educational developmental unit (SEDU) is located on the eastern side of the school and accessed from Urquhart Street.

The Early childhood development program (ECDP) is an Education Queensland early intervention service that provides programs for children from birth to school age that are suspected of or have been diagnosed with a disability. A weekly Playgroup in which parents/carers accompany their child to the centre is offered for children aged birth to 3 years. Children aged from 3 to 5 years attend a centre based program for a specified number of 1-2 hour sessions per week.

Early special education programs focus on the cognitive, language, social, emotional and physical development of the individual child. Group size is kept to a minimum to provide a more individual program and children attending the centre can also access their chosen kindergarten or day care centre.

Children attending the ECDP also have access to Education Queensland specialists including Occupational therapist, Speech language pathologist, Physiotherapist, Guidance officer and Advisory visiting teachers.
